Data Science and Business Analytics
The course is aimed at students with a strong inclination for mathematical, statistical and computational disciplines and at the same time interested in working with data . Students will learn the most advanced techniques to extrapolate relevant information from complex data sets to guide the decision-making processes of the organizations in which they will work.
The program is divided into two tracks, track in Data Science and track in Business Analytics , which share a common quantitative training. The main training objectives that, with different emphasis, they pursue are:
- provide students with rigorous preparation in the fundamentals of statistics and Machine Learning , being crucial for determining useful methods and models for data prediction and analysis
- develop solid and advanced skills in the area of Computer Science that allow you to build algorithms and identify programming tools necessary for the effective implementation of statistical methods to real problems
- develop professional profiles that combine solid quantitative skills with an in-depth knowledge of company dynamics, to support managers in strategic decisions based on data analysis
- consolidate skills through training activities inside and outside the classroom, which promote the ability to work in a team and present and discuss the results of one’s work in the most effective way, as well as understanding the legal and ethical limits connected to the massive use of data .
At the end of the course, students will have acquired the skills necessary to carry out the role of data scientist or business analyst and will be able to provide a decisive contribution within companies, organizations and institutions that operate in a society in which decision-making processes they are increasingly data-driven. Furthermore, they will have acquired a wealth of knowledge that allows them to successfully undertake a PhD in disciplinary areas related to Data Science .
